Machine Operator

This job is in St. Louis, Missouri but would involve a good deal of travel both in the US and internationally. We perform our work all over the US, Central and South America, Europe and Asia.

We're looking for a machine operator who could grow into a site supervisor for our roadway rehabilitation projects using our specialized heavy machinery. Our Company performs road rehabilitation using a specific resonant technology to fracture existing concrete slabs (see http://www.rubblization.com/process.html for more information). We will teach you about our specific rubblization process.

Duties include; coordinate the preparation of the project sites with the prime contractor personnel; Supervise and perform equipment maintenance; Maintain the parts inventory on all equipment; Order necessary equipment, supplies, fuel, repair parts; safe operation of construction equipment and tools and in job techniques and skills; Prepare production, time and other required reports; recommend purchase of tools, equipment, and material. You must be able to understand the unique aspects of work outside the US and treat our overseas national partners with dignity and respect.

This position involves all aspects of highway construction and maintenance, employee and contractor oversight, equipment operation and maintenance, job safety, mechanical ability, record keeping and communicative skills, assistance with budget development, any other tasks assigned by the General Manager.

You will also be expected to be able to take the initiative and operate within established guidelines in our markets we serve. You need to be able to carry out written or oral directives or instructions and to submit timely and complete reports. Advanced mechanical skills a plus. Ability to exercise good judgment when carrying out duties and to maintain good working relationships with the public and fellow employees are critical to this job. You will also need to perform strenuous physical tasks such as bending, lifting, carrying, digging, etc. in all weather conditions. Please consider, as with all road construction, this is a dirty, physically demanding job.

You must also learn and maintain a working knowledge of statutes and regulations affecting company operations. Ensure that all employees maintain all required licenses or certifications required to perform their jobs. Perform limited electrical, hydraulic maintenance and repair duties on the machinery is very important. Supervise driving, loading and unloading of equipment and machinery to and from job sites.

Characteristics we’re are looking for included: high school education or equivalent; Education, training or work experience in road construction or related field beneficial; Several years of experience with heavy equipment operation, construction and equipment maintenance; Experience and working knowledge or ability to gain such knowledge of road construction. Military service considered a real plus.

The starting salary is commensurate with experience/qualifications after probationary period, fully-paid health insurance, a performance bonus. You will receive 2 weeks paid vacation in your first year which is adjusted upward as part of the bonus plan. The company will pay for all living expenses overseas.
